DYW Update

Just a wee update for everyone on a few recent DYW events 💙🧡.

Thank you to Fife Council Building Services for an insightful morning yesterday. Our pupils found out about the application process for the 33 various trades apprenticeships they will be advertising this year. They completed a health and safety exercise and then undertook practical tasks in Electrical, Joinery and plumbing. A great insight which will hopefully help them all strengthen their applications come January. All the boys were a credit to Beath and behaved impeccably and were all fully engaged throughout.
Thank you to everyone who supported Careers Week last week where we had a range of engagement in registration classes, corridor displays, curricular time and through our stall at lunch time in the crush area. The ambassadors were also promoting our new DYW Instagram @teambeathdyw. Please feel free to give us a wee follow. 😊 Thanks to the ambassador team for all their excellent work on this. 👏

A group of our pupils have also undertaken a 6 week employability programme culminating in a great visit to the Robertsons construction site in Lochgelly. Thank you to Jamie Hughes, social impact manager, who has worked with us on the project and showed us around on the day. This was useful allowing the scene to be set prior to the boys completing a weeks work experience shadowing a trade of their choice over the next few months. This is a great opportunity to achieve their employability qualification plus gain valuable hands on experience.
